APPALACHIAN TERROR UNIT Announce Rerelease of ‘Armageddon Won’t Be Brought By Gods, But By Men Who Think They Are…’ 7″

Every once in a great while, a new band comes along with such intense fury that they captivate all who hear and see them. Anarcho-crust eco-warrior collective APPALACHIAN TERROR UNIT is that band, and ‘Armageddon Won’t Be Brought By Gods, But By Men Who Think They Are…’ is        their seminal release, a 7″ slab of raw power and vitriol that        will be resurrected from its long out-of-print status by        venerable punk provocateurs Profane Existence on April          3, 2012.
Hailing from the mountains of West Virginia, ATU belt out a thunderous chorus of   eco-awareness and chastisement for mankind’s destructive ways  (or at least those who are in control). Musically they combine        classic punk, crust, and a hint of metal into a sound that’s        likened to latter day NAUSEA, totally reinforced by the  strong female vocals throughout. Adding to the over-all amazing  quality of this EP are additional touches of brilliance, like        the brutally powerful recording by Jay (Antischism, Damad) at  The Jam Room in South Carolina and incendiary cover /  poster art by Marald. Normally this sort of praise for a        job well done is reserved for bands who have been around the  block once or twice — not for the debut EP from a band barely        formed a year before recording, but ATU are far from “normal.” They are more a force of nature than a punk rock band.  This is the band’s first 7” release, which originally came out  in 2007 and has been out of print ever since, claiming its place as one of the most sought-after records in Profane Existence        history!
Since their inception this        energetic and uncompromising band has completed numerous tours        of the United States and Europe and released a series of        cathartic, razor-edged crust monoliths. Profane Existence commented,        “We are excited to have this record back in print just in time        to hit the streets before ATU’s summer tour!”
Keep an eye out for tourdates.

Ancient Obliteration – A Menacing Reality C.D.

@@@ – 3 out 5 @narchy @’s

After many lineup changes and a few years of raging metal madness under their belts, these Canadian head bangers give us their new release “A Menacing Reality.” Ancient Obliteration’s old school style reminds me a lot of the early metal that was at the forefront of the Thrash Metal scene. Right when the big 4 were just starting to blow every metal head’s mind away. Whether by accident or not, Ancient Obliteration has that old school sound and owns it through every track of the disc. Even the record cover, with the smoking tendrils leaking out of the city and up into the sky reminds me of some old thrash record artwork that looks like something someone’s uncle or high school buddy painted. When trying to describe A.O., I have to say that I keep coming back to Hell Hammer mixed with Carnivore. They employ plenty of chugging riffs, double bass and over all evil in all the tracks with an occasional solo thrown in for good measure. Not all of it is heavy though, they do experiment with some mellower breakdowns and some cool melodic parts as well some blast beats. The vocals are low pitch agonizing yells that reduce themselves down into painful moans. You can hear the multitude of different metal influences throughout this bad boy, touching on many different genres of Metal. Along with the different influences there is also a touch of weird to this disc. Well maybe more than just a touch but that adds to the overall originality. I have to be honest, it’s a little sloppy and the music production is lacking. For me that lack of polish, amongst other things, is what makes me like this disc! I feel with some decent production this disc would be a lot better and a little less silly. I would really like to hear these guys after maybe 2 more records because I believe they are on the right path just need a little more time. Over all I do enjoy the disc but a funny thing happens every time I play it, someone is like “what the fuck is this.” A.O. is definitely not background music. If these guys would have been around in the 80’s, one of these songs surely would have made it onto an old Metal Massacre comp. or something. ( Attucks)

OILTANKER and NO TOMORROW Team Up for split!!!

Profane Existence are proud  to announce the imminent release of a split 12″ LP that showcases two up and coming metallic crust powerhouses and drops            April 3, 2012. Connecticut’s d-beat destroyers OILTANKER  and Cape Fear crust vigilantes NO TOMORROW both come  armed to the teeth and hardened by years of toiling and touring.  Worshipping upon the filth-streaked altars of Scandinavian  hardcore, Japanese punk, classic d-beat, and vicious, metallic-minded crust, these two bands have risen rapidly through the underground, and are poised to take the fuck over.
The label stated, “Tour after tour,   song after  song both of these bands are relentless and have  shown through their  actions that they won’t let up until the  world hears their message of  defiance and unrest. When looking  for new artists to join the Profane Existence family we  want bands that exemplify our mission statement. These bands are  definitely out there “Making Punk A Threat Again!”  While each band has their own unique style it’s easy to see why they are  sharing a release together. Their sound is heavy. Their delivery  is  crushing. The recording embodies the high energy performance  and intensity you would expect from a live show while sounding solid and  musically tight. This is definitely a record that will breath new life and energy into the crust punk genera. When they contacted us about releasing the record there was no way we  could pass it up. This is one  of the best new records we have  heard in a while!”
Fans of Disrupt, Nausea, Doom,  & Extreme Noise Terror are sure to agree. With both  bands poised to launch live assaults upon the continental US and  even further, the release of their split LP is only a merciless  harbinger of the destruction that is to come. There will be        blood.

So cried out AMEBIX on the masterpiece justly titled ‘Sonic Mass’.  So I abandoned the world of custom layout and graphics to embrace WordPress.  Back to basics and a more DIY nature.  I’ve learned a lot over the last year or so and have some good stuff in mind and in the works.  Attucks and Val (as well as others?) will be here with me as we embark on this new adventure.

My vision as I see it now it kick back a little, take myself a lot less serious and have some fun with some friends as we dive into one of our favorite and most rewarding things…MUSIC!  Of course this comes with the social and political commentary as well as our skepticism of where this world is heading…Some call it a conspiracy…I am looking for TRUTH.

Bear with us as we explore what this layout has to offer, especially since we be operating within the confines of the basic package here for a few weeks.  I’ll eventually upgrade to get more customization.

Stand by…
